Day 8 Happy (tax) New Year

It really is going to be hard trying to come back and get ourselves out of bed early in the morning for work. Got up at 10:30 this morning, which was a touch hard, so that we didn't miss breakfast. We sat with a nice older couple from the US who made very pleasant company.

Next it was off to do a power walk. The ship has a track on deck 5 that's undercover from the elements and is about .6km in length. We did 8 laps, but mainly just walking. It was actually nice to do some exercise, both physically and psychologically. We'd hit the drinks fairly hard yesterday, so to work some off was a very smart move.

Next it was off for a small bight to eat at the Park Cafe in the Central Park region. It was a really good change from the buffet selection. They have a design your own salad bar and they make other things like focaccias and roast beef rolls. Yummy!

On our way to the first round of progressive trivia in the Schooner Bar, we cruised through the amazing promenade deck, which looks like an indoor mall. There was a flash mob practising their moves, which did actually look quite fun, but we got there too late to join. So it was up to the trivia, which was being run by our friend April. We met April on our Europe cruise and we became Facebook friends after that cruise. Whatever negatives you may think about Facebook, it certainly connects us so easily to our new globally located friends. The trivia was pretty hard but we managed a reasonably good score to kick off proceedings.

Tonight was the first of two formal nights. So we needed a fair bit of time to pretty up to look respectable for the evening. Tonight we enjoyed crispy skin duck and a seafood ravioli for our mains. Each night is a three course meal, but it is just easier to report on the main course. Once we'd downed our after dinner shot, we headed off to see Oceanaria, which was an incredibly spectacular water based Cirque Du Soliel style show.

This show was awe inspiring and so clever. The divers and acrobats were brilliant and the show was very well choreographed. The showed had a floor that moved up and down, so divers could literally run across the water, then at other times they could dive from death defying heights! Made the 10m platform look like kid's play!

Next stop was the honeymooners meet and greet party. We went and enjoyed some sparkling wine Mimosas. We also won one of the raffle prizes, which was not a great surprise because we are quite lucky and usually win stuff....Love that!! It was nice that they'd made a cake and chocolate covered strawberries for the occasion. The effort on the ship had been well noted.

Our second last stop for the night was the casino. We love gambling when we're on holidays, but that is really the only time when we do it. We ended up coming out a whole $10 ahead, which took us back to even after all visits to date. At the table we talked to some people again who we'd met yesterday and ended up going on with those guys to the 80s dance party till just after midnight. The band were actually awesome. They had a brilliant array of 80s classics that were all complete crowd pleasers! We were pleased, but we are very biased to that decade! I'm sure you will all agree.
